We can not afford a high end weather station but have been looking into some smaller units like the Davis Vantage Pro2 with weather tracking program. Has anyone used this system or a system like it with good results? Currently we use a very cheap (free from a trade show) wind and temperature tracker that needs to have the high and low temps written down each morning and afternoon. Then our rain gauge is on the other side of the shop and has more spiders and pine needles in it than water after a storm.

any info would be very helpful

    Thanks,

Davis makes some really good weather stations. We have a Davis Weather Wizard III that is going on 19 years. Had to replace rain bucket last year but that has been it.

We installed an Ambient Weather WS-2080ip (http://www.ambientweather.com/amws2080.html) a few years ago and connected it to Weather Underground. No need to record and store data on your own computer network as all data is uploaded automatically to the website. Historical data is also available on the website. And the good thing is you can see the weather at your facility anywhere in the world as long as you have internet access - including your smartphone. Only downside that I don't get with this station is ET is not available. At least not with this software. Wireless installation and the batteries last about 18 months.

Although I just checked for our specific station, I couldn't find it. But, several are available that are similar.

You can see our data here: http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/getForecast?query=34470&sp=KFLOCALA35

Alright Andy, I just took your recommendation and after doing a little research I ordered thee Ambient 2080 weather station. Lets hope I get some rain soon to put the rain gauge to good use. It hasn't rained here at the course since July 9th, and we have had 71 days above 90 degrees this year. Typically for the Denver area we average 36 days above 90 degrees.
    Thanks for the info!

Good deal Chris. Are you planning on feeding the data to Weather Underground or Weather Bug? If so, you'll need the ip interface adapter.

If not, then I think you'll be pleased. It's been a pretty solid unit for us.
