Does anyone remember who posted the pictures of the broken trailer on the Salsco roller? We have recently purchased one and I wanted to show it to our mechanic.

    Thanks!

    Steven

Don't remember who it was, but they all seem to crack after time. Keep an eye on the base of it, near the trailer. We have two and I have had to reinforce both of them. The one in the photo came off the trailer when it broke, but I think it was more likely due to the ramp style stop they had in front of the roller that caused it to jump the trailer. If your going to use a stop, do so in the rear by the gate and keep it tight up against the front of the trailer. That is the way we have ours set up, and when the one broke it just hit the ground and roller stayed put. Most of the time we notice them cracking before the snap completely off. Hope this helps.

    Steven,

That was I that posted the pictures of the Salsco roller. Like Henry said just keep your eye on it. This particular trailer was 4 years old. Our other unit shows no stress. We put stops at the front of the trailers to prevent the roller from going over the front small stop that was there. We found we needed to park the trailers on more of a downhill to load the roller as if it was up hill even though the rubber was on the trailer gate it would slide and you'd end up hitting the sides. So as we load down hill once in awhile the roller would pop over the metal stop on the bottom of the trailer and then be a task to get it back over to make it free for unloading. I've noticed that newer trailers are smaller and have a shorter hitch bar.
