Why is Homeland security buying up over a billion bullets and reinforced vehicles for domestic use? Do they know of some large scale terrorist event or being cynical, is this the precursor to some over the top gun confiscation from American citizens? I hate to even think of that option but I know the administration and many of the dems in the senate would truly like to see a gun free population. Obama has even been on record with his feelings prior to becoming a state senator. He personally thinks nobody should have a gun. Does anyone know anything about this huge purchase, especially at a time when departments are supposed to be cutting back? Maybe the homeland security people are only required to cut where it hurts citizens while buying millions of dollars of new uniforms the day before sequester and now bullets and vehicles!

That is why I asked. I was sure someone had more complete information than the brief description I heard on the radio going home yesterday. Purchases that big just didn't seem to make sense. I hope this account is true because I know Big Sis lies through her teeth. I live close enough to the border to know the truth about border security and how they actually count numbers.

    Sandy,

There was a similar rumor about FEMA ordering and storing something like 100,000 "plastic coffins" near the Atlanta airport. Of course people thought the government knew something no one else did. Turned out they were grave encasements, required by many states for internment, and they were merely being stored outside until they were shipped out or other such logical reason.

And then there was the rumor that an agency of the federal government had actually devised a plan that would have purposely allowed licensed firearm dealers to sell weapons to illegal straw buyers, hoping to track the guns to Mexican drug cartel leaders.

Something like 2000 firearms. That could never happen here. Can you imagine that? It could eventually lead to killings with those weapons of real Americans. There's no way they'd let that happen.

    Peter that's RICH...
How about the one where we (US Government) would leave a U.S. consulate vulnerable on the anniversary of the worst terrorist attacks on Americans.
Just flat out, New World Order, Skull and Bones, Area 51, Grassy knoll, who shot JR, conspiracy craziness!?!

Pete and Trevor, I think what you are talking about is more incompetence,
similar to Weapons of Mass destruction talk before going into Iraq.

If this is really nothing of importance, why won't Big Sis even talk about it with Congress? From a need standpoint and a budget consideration, I would think she would be obligated to let Congress know what it is all about.

    Sandy,

Congress has the same conduit of information as we have, and probably more. They already know the answers to this. The only time they might bring it up is when they think they can make political hay with their constituents. The gullible and uninformed will soak it up like a sponge and think my guy is the best and the other guys are ruining our country.

Maybe I should write my congressman and ask him about it and see what answer I get? Then I can see if he his pandering to me.
