    Hi all,

Just wondered if anyone could let me know if you had any rules or ways to organize the start sheet on busy courses e.g. only four balls after a certain time or not letting any singles play on their own etc.
We are a high end resort course and we are starting to get busier and busier with golfers. Our starter and marshal are starting to have a tough job keeping everyone happy without any hold ups.

Thanks in advance for any help,

    Nigel

We went to a 10 minute gap between tee times a few years ago. It's been great and although the time to play a round is still the same, they don't get bunched up right out of the gate. Seems to keep them happier not having to wait.

Nigel, It is very common at busy golf courses to have a rule "We reserve the right to pair up golfers to make foursomes." No one likes the "pair up" but it is ridiculous to have a single or twosome out in the middle of a bunch of foursomes. The single or twosome will not enjoy waiting and the foursomes will not enjoy having the single or twosome right behind them.

I had a guy bring his two sons to our resort in Miami. They were there to see a Dolphins home game and we were the host resort for the Dolphins. At that resort you could play as a twosome or threesome, but you had to buy the unused space. The hotel guest bought the fourth tee time in order to play alone with his sons. They were heading down to the starter when Tony Nathan stuck his head in my office and asked if I could get him a game. I said sure they just headed down to the first tee. I figured the threesome down there would appreciate the opportunity to play golf with Tony Nathan. I was right. We refunded the guy's fourth greens fee on his hotel bill, but he never asked for it.
