Had a motor failure and smoked the wires from motor to the harness connection. Anybody have this happen?
Just asking to see if this is a big issue. Had no trouble for 930 hours. Thanks Ron.

So far no reel motors have failed on our 4 3420's, ranging from 900-1200 hours.

That may be under warranty. I'd contact your dealer tech to see. I want to say they warranty the motors longer than the equipment itself.

I think that Andy is right. The electric motor warranty was extended from 2 years to 4 years a few years back. We have had this happen twice on our 3320's, and it was the same motor both times. However, I'd have to check how long ago that it happened last, it feels like its been a while.

Thanks for the info guys, Toro is going to warranty the parts. There is a 4 year warranty on these motors, in the shop getting rewired. Thanks Ron.

Just out of curiosity, was it the larger wires in the 48 volt system or the smaller (4)wires in the CAN/bus system from the motor that got fried?

Kenneth, they were the big wires that got hot enough to melt the smaller ones with them. Thanks Ron.

I've been a equipment manager for the past 25.7 years. Toro's warranty hasn't changed in this time frame; Toro commercial products are to be free of defects in materials or workmanship for two years or 1500 hours whichever occurs first. The General Commercial Product Warranty is printed on the back of every Operator's Manual.
Hope this helps your question and future questions on your products. Always contact your local distributer for warranty claims and questions.
