    Just for Kicks,
    An email from a member:

    Hi John:

Congratulations on getting Pine Lakes certified, you've put in a lot of work on this project. It means a good deal to many who wonder about the compatibility of golfing and the environment.

On another matter, I often notice that workman "freeze in place" as I approach their activity on the course. Obviously, they have been cautioned not to disturb golfers. I sometimes try to signal them to keep moving, as the activity is not an issue interrupting my play, or of those in my foursome. I must golf, but also, they must work, and often that work has to be done during golfing time.

How can we be more compatible? I hate to see workers stopping everything while I line up a putt. Actually, and most of my golfing companions agree, so long as the sound / motion is constant, it is not a distraction.

Suggestions? How can we signal workers that their activity is not a distraction?

Maybe a discussion with Rob? Pro shop issue?

    Best,

    Tom

Around here, the first thing the members would need to do is learn to speak Spanish and then the Pro shop could issue them all bullhorns so that they could shout their instuctions to the workers in question.

CAN I GET THAT WRITTEN ON A ROCK?

Earlier that day I had an etiquette complaint regarding an employee mowing Primary Rough. :?

This is the definition of a "NO WIN SITUATION"

Maybe the golfers could wear different colored shirts: green for work and red for stop. I am at a municipal course that does a bazillion rounds (thank God!) I call what we do "Aggressive Maintenance". We never stop working no matter what. We can't.

I was visiting a superintendent once who got a call that a hotel guest was complaining loudly from her balcony about mower noise at 1pm. She was on the 5th floor. It was Whitney Houston.

PS: Congratulations on your Audubon Certification.

She was just gettin' up, man. Whew! A hangover, a beating and now a rough mower?
