    DMac usually would remind all of us every year on this day, but since he is not here to do it.

    Happy 238th Birthday to the United States Marine Corp.
    Semper Fidelis

    Hope everyone is having a great Veterans Day weekend and thank you to all of you who have served.

    Greetings;

    DMac was in New Orleans celebrating the USMC Birthday. Did not you guys see him in the shadows as the cameras from the football game shined on him.

    My thanks also to those that served. In a couple of short years, we won't have any of the Greatest Generation remaining. I hope the nations education system doesn't let that drop from history or bad mouth us as the evil doers! I sure miss David. I have been thinking about him a great deal lately.

    Thanks to all who have served their country so proudly over the years so the rest of us could enjoy the freedoms we have today. Our thoughts are also with those who are currently serving our country and away from their families as we approach another holiday season. THANK YOU!!!!!

    Up here in Canada we have worn a poppy on our lapels for years to honor our veterans and military. I like that you are trying to do something similar with the camo ribbon. Hope it catches on down there like the poppies up here have.

    Many years ago the DAV used to sell poppies, I always would buy one to put on my book bag or something similar. I just don't see them sold now. Anyone else in the states remember that and still see them?

    Thanks!

    Apparently the Canadian Legion actually has a patent on the Poppy and the use of the word with regard to the military. There were a bunch of anti war people trying to get a white poppy for peace up here but they got chastised over copyright infringement.http://chronicle.durhamcollege.ca/story.php?id=5749&issue=

    Scott, just saw a report this morning stating they had record crops of poppies over there this year!

    When you look at those bleak surroundings, it may well be the only cash crop they can grow

    I've seen a friend of mine's pictures from the back deck of a Chinook flying through an Afghani river valley. I could see a lot of nice golf courses there, but I guess that won't happen until they come into the 20th century. Heck even Vietnam has gone the golf resort route.
