Anyone have any experiences positive or negative concerning Wind Turbines being constructed in close proximity to a golf course. There is a Wind Turbine (140 feet tall 40 foot blades) proposed about 150 yards from my 11th green. Will this be distracting to Golfers?

Not a very big turbine considering most new installs are much larger, 200+ foot towers with blades 100-140 feet long with total heights 300+ft. Noise is a constant low frequency rumble increasing with speed which may not bother many since they are golfing and on the move. What might cause a bigger problem is the shadows made by the blades depending on time of year and placement of turbine. More info here

Turbine that small not really making much power. Is it one of many to be built or an experiment?

    Edward,

It is a 1/2 size of the commercial ones we see out here. It is more of a demonstration and is being funded by a grant to a museum to help defray the energy costs. Its not a bad project just want to give everyone the best information possible. Thanks for the tip on shadow flicker that could be a big deal but since it is on the east side only in early morning.
