I have some yellow nutsedge in Tifdwarf greens in South Florida. I am considering spoting it out with a small sprayer. What is a safe, effective herbicide for this?

I did the same thing with ProSedge. Worked like a charm using 2 applications 10 days apart. No yellowing, no burn

Sedgehammer and Prosedge are the same A.I. Have used Sedgehammer before like Rodney with no problems, even though it says not for use on putting greens. I swear I've seen them sell the .9g packets at either Home Depot or Lowe's so you wouldn't have to buy a whole bottle to try. Maybe JD Landscapes sells the packets. Another one I have used is Certainty. Again, not labeled for putting greens, but controls nutsedge and kyllinga. I have broadcast sprayed Certainty on my greens before with no problems. Try a test spot first. This is on Champion in west/central Floriduh.

    Scott-

I've used Monument to control the sedges/kyllinga on greens. Have boom sprayed it as well as using it in a 2 gal. sprayer. Syngenta recently came out with it in a .5 gram water solubule packet, which makes it accurate to mix in the 2 gal. sprayer. Good results, no phyto, make sure to use a suitable sticker.

Another vote for Monument... though I only spray it at the rate for removing cool season from the Bermuda. I get a good knock down for the summer on the Purple that I have around a couple of edges in some collars.

Spot spray with Monument. 1/2 pack in a 3 gallon sprayer.

Can't beat Monument... I've had a pretty bad infestation of green kyllinga on the tifdwarf greens here in texas when I took them on. I found that a broadcast application at the high rate in late spring did a great job of phasing out the kyllinga while allowing the bermuda to catch up and fill in. No ill effects on the greens what so ever and you could watch the kyllinga melt away!

    Good luck

I also had a really bad infestation of Sedges and Kyllinga on my Tif-Dwarf greens. CERTAINTY was very safe and I was able to remove all of the weeds from the Greens. I would definitely use it again if I come across the same situation. Monument could be good to play around with, but could be a little hot. Good luck.
