They told me to sacrifice health for speed, and thats what we did. i am sure you have let your members know that you can have fast greens, if you have concrete. we have penncross/poa here as well but not anywhere the weather extremes your dealing with. If it was me, I would be relaying to them hat if they want the greens at a 12, they will suffer and the longevity of the greens will be in jeopardy. my 2 cegolf nts
Quite right, Aaron. It's a similar situation for me. they had the French Open last week at Le Golf National down the road from us, and the greens there were at 12', but they have the luxury of 50 staff and volunteers and a fleet of rollers, including some cricket pitch rollers, and they can just keep rolling the greens until they're like pool tables. I habve a few prominent local low-handicappers who come to our place and make comparisons.
I'm keeping my greens alive and healthy first, and so far resisting the pressure to shave them down, and I'm disregarding the pathetic, whining, pampered, panty-waists who don't have the strength to get a putt uphill against the grain.
Maybe they'll fire me, but when I leave the greens will be alive. If I wipe out the greens to gain speed, I'll have everyone mad at me, not just a few, they'll fire me for sure, and I'll be looking for a job with dead greens at the top of my résumé. Slow greens is a subjective opinion, but there's no arguing with dead greens.
