The Links at Lakehouse Director of Agronomy Brandon Williams hosts visit with staff of Congressman Scott Peters

Jun 25, 2026

Colorado River negotiations, labor, and ongoing challenges to affordability among topics of discussion

Brandon Williams, Director of Agronomy at The Links at Lakehouse in San Marcos, Calif., recently hosted an outreach meeting with Jason Bercovitch, District Director for Congressman Scott Peters (CA-50). Williams, a past president of the San Diego GCSA and a GCSAA Grassroots Ambassador, welcomed Berkovitch to the Lakehouse Resort, which features golf, onsite lodging, numerous dining options and water sports along Lake San Marcos.

Williams and I were able to discuss some of the challenges facing courses in the San Diego area, including water availability and cost, labor challenges and the ongoing issues with affordability and cost of doing business in California.  In particular, we conducted a deep dive into the Colorado River situation and the efforts of the San Diego County Water Authority and others to alleviate some of the issues that end users are facing and will face in the coming years.

Additionally, we toured the facility and discussed course BMPs as well as some of the water-saving efforts that The Links at Lakehouse has undertaken. Berkovitch was also able to see how the facility serves as a gathering spot for not only visitors, but local residents who play, practice, dine and attend regular concerts and other live entertainment at the resort.

A special thanks to District Director Bercovitch for taking time out of his schedule to visit, as well as Congressman Peters, who is an avid golfer, co-chair of the Congressional Golf Caucus and a supporter of the golf industry.
