Stone steps into retirement after 35 years as golf course superintendent at revered Honors Course

David Stone, a 42-year GCSAA member and superintendent at the Honors Course in Ooltewah, Tenn., will be retiring after a legendary career of 35 years. Over the years, Stone developed a knack for expertly managing bentgrass greens in a tough geographical transition zone, and he managed the first zoysiagrass fairways in the Southeast. Stone is also a member of the Tennessee Golf Hall of Fame.

Top satellite radio golf program to broadcast live from the 2017 GIS

“Katrek and Maginnes On Tap,” one of the most popular programs on the PGA Tour Satellite Radio Network, will broadcast live Feb. 8-9, 2017, from the Golf Industry Show in Orlando. Guests will include GCSAA CEO Rhett Evens, Old Tom Morris Award winner Paul R. Latshaw, GCSAA vice president Bill Maynard and association award winner Josh Heptig. The radio show, on Sirius channel 208 and XM channel 92, is tentatively scheduled to air 5-7 p.m. (Eastern) Feb. 8-9
