Koch Turf & Ornamental donates $20,000 to support GCSAA’s best management practices program

Initiative strives to have golf course BMPs in all 50 states by 2020.

Lawrence, Kan. (April 3, 2018) – Under its brand, Koch Turf & Ornamental, Koch Agronomic Services, LLC has donated $20,000 to the Environmental Institute for Golf (EIFG), the philanthropic organization of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA), to support GCSAA’s best management practices (BMP) program.

With this donation, Koch Turf & Ornamental is part of the Executive Level of supporters of the BMP recognition program. They are also in the Statesman's Club level of the EIFG's Cumulative Giving Program for donors who have contributed $10,000 - $24,999 since 1987. In addition, they are Silver Partners in GCSAA’s Partner Recognition Program.

“We have very ambitious goals for our BMP initiative, and Koch Turf & Ornamental’s support will help those come to fruition,” GCSAA CEO Rhett Evans said. “Their gift aids in the development and adoption of BMPs at the state and facility levels, which in turn promotes members’ professional management of their golf courses.”

GCSAA’s BMP program provides tools and resources to assist states and individual facilities in developing BMP plans for integrated pest management (IPM), water management and the use of inputs. GCSAA’s goal is to have state BMP guides in all 50 states by 2020 and created a BMP Planning Guide and Template Tool to help states take the first steps. Once a state’s guide is approved, then the Facility BMP Tool assists individual golf operations in creating site-specific plans. In addition, the recently launched IPM Planning Guide Tool creates an easily developed pest management plan. The BMP program receives additional support from the USGA and PGA Tour.

"GCSAA is providing the golf industry with broad-based information and tools that promote sustainability and encourage continuous improvement,” said Marshall Bird, vice president of Koch Turf & Ornamental. “We’re proud to support the BMP program, which aligns with our vision of providing solutions that maximizes plant performance and minimizes environmental impact.”
