In early spring, the
Wisconsin Golf Course Superintendents Association board of directors met virtually and held a
chapter strategic planning session. The session aimed to prioritize short and long-term objectives and continue the momentum of the well-run chapter. The session began with WGCSA leaders sharing what they hoped to achieve from the meeting, followed by completing a chapter SCOR – strengths, challenges, opportunities, and risks – analysis.
Following the SCOR analysis, chapter leaders referred to the current WGCSA mission and vision statements. The ensuing discussion led to revamped and streamlined mission and vision statements which reflect the chapter’s current, and future initiatives.
WGCSA mission statement:
The Wisconsin GCSA is dedicated to serving its members, advocating on behalf of the golf course management industry, and supporting the future of golf.WGCSA vision statement:
Through promoting environmental stewardship and best management practices on behalf of its members, the Wisconsin GCSA is recognized as the regional leader in golf course management.Following mission/vision statement discussions, the board prioritized their areas of focus. These included developing several goals and action items from the SCOR analysis and ensuring they align with the updated mission and vision statements. These goals and action items are wide ranging and will continue to advance the chapter and provide additional value to members across the state.
I want to send my sincere thanks to the WGCSA chapter leaders for taking their time to participate in the strategic planning process. Their commitment to the chapter, their fellow members and their dedication to the Wisconsin golf course management industry was on full display throughout the session. I look forward to working with them as they continue to advance the chapter and develop additional member benefits.
