To date, CTLF has provided over $3 million in financial support to the UCR Turfgrass program.
The California Turf and Landscape Foundation (CTLF) is a 501 (c)(3) organization committed to raising funds for practical research project development in the areas of turfgrass science and landscape management. Founded to support cultivation and growth of resilient turf strains for golf, sports turf, or landscape management, CTLF’s backing is essential for recreational initiatives and local conservation efforts.
Headed by new Executive Director and former USGA West Regional Green Section Director Pat Gross and President Brian Sullivan, CGCS/MG at Wilshire Country Club, the CTLF is currently soliciting donations from allied golf organizations, water districts, golf clubs and individual donors to assist in the research efforts of Dr. Jim Baird at UC Riverside.
To date, CTLF has provided over $3 million in financial support to the UCR Turfgrass program which is home to California’s only university turfgrass research program.
Immediate priorities for CTLF include continued grant support as well as the use on unrestricted funds to assist the UC Riverside program with costs including salaries (potential support of a graduate student), agricultural operations, equipment, maintenance costs, travel and miscellaneous expenses.
Future goals include the creation of new faculty position at UCR, Assistant Professor of Turfgrass Breeding and Genetics in the Department of Botany & Plant Sciences. The position would require a 3–5-year financial commitment from the green industry.

CTLF accepts monetary donations from individuals as well as allied golf chapters, golf clubs, municipalities and other green industry entities who want to support research in California. More information on CTLF as well as donor packages is available at http://www.catlf.org/. We hope you will consider joining us in protecting the future of our game and turf in California!
