About GCSAA's Centennial

GCSAA was founded by Col. John Morley, the greenkeeper at Youngstown (Ohio) Country Club. First known as the National Association of Greenkeepers of America, the group started with 60 greenkeepers coming together on Sept. 13, 1926, at Sylvania Country Club in Toledo, Ohio. Today, GCSAA is the top professional association for the men and women who manage golf courses in the U.S. and worldwide. The association provides education, information and representation to 21,000 members in more than 78 countries. The association’s mission is to serve its members, advance their profession and improve communities through enjoyment, growth and vitality of the game of golf.
