Gift will help fund innovative initiatives over the next century
Lawrence, Kan. (July 7, 2026) – The Golf Course Superintendents Association of South Dakota has generously donated $5,000 to the GCSAA Foundation, the philanthropic organization of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA), to support the Col. John Morley Centennial Campaign.
GCSAA will turn 100 on Sept. 13, 2026, and it has embarked on a Centennial fundraising campaign to establish a new endowment honoring GCSAA’s founder, Col. John Morley, with a goal of raising $1 million to fund new and innovative initiatives for the next 100 years.
The GCSA of South Dakota is supporting the Centennial Campaign at the Chapter Legacy Leader Level, which recognizes donations of $5,000 or more. With this donation, the chapter is a new member of the Foundation’s Platinum Tee Club, which recognizes organizations that donate $5,000 or more annually to the GCSAA Foundation.
“GCSAA is grateful to the GCSA of South Dakota for prioritizing support of the Centennial Campaign and providing for the future of the game,” said GCSAA CEO Rhett Evans. “The success of this campaign would not be possible without the generosity demonstrated by chapters like the GCSA of South Dakota. Thank you for your dedication to the association and its mission.”
The Golf Course Superintendents Association of South Dakota is one of the 94 GCSAA-affiliated chapters in North America. Founded in 1985, the chapter has remained focused on its commitment to the growth of golf in South Dakota and dedicated to serving its members to advance the profession.
“The GCSA of South Dakota is honored to contribute to the Col. John Morley Centennial Campaign. GCSA of South Dakota is committed to supporting new and innovated initiatives for not only its members but for the entire golf industry nationwide. With goals of helping promote the game of golf for all ages and leaving the environment better than we found it,” said Richard A. Wit, CGCS, GCSA of South Dakota executive director.
