Lawrence, Kan. (Sept. 15, 2026) Phil Anderson, chief operating officer for the PGA of America, has been appointed to the board of trustees for the GCSAA Foundation, the philanthropic organization of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA).

Anderson joined the PGA of America staff in April, after serving as general manager and chief operating officer at Hazeltine National Golf Club since 2022. He has been a PGA of America Golf Professional for more than 20 years.

“Having spent more than two decades leading golf facilities, capital projects, championship operations and membership-focused initiatives, Phil has a firsthand understanding of the responsibilities, challenges and opportunities facing GCSAA members,” GCSAA and GCSAA Foundation President Paul L. Carter, CGCS, said. “His experience managing complex operations, developing high-performing teams and driving long-term strategic growth aligns closely with the Foundation’s mission to support and advance the profession.”

The GCSAA Foundation secures funding and support to strengthen advocacy, education, and research that advances the work of golf course management professionals. It was founded in 1955 as the Scholarship & Research Fund for the GCSAA.

The board of trustees is composed of four GCSAA directors and one representative each from the USGA, PGA Tour and PGA of America. The trustees are responsible for advancement, policies, and general review of the mission and goals of the organization.

The current board also includes Carter, Marc E. Weston, CGCS (GCSAA vice president); Steven J. Hammon, CGCS (GCSAA secretary/treasurer); H. Scott Griffith, CGCS, Emily Palmer (USGA) and Paul Vermeulen (PGA Tour).
