Lawrence, Kan. – U.S. Rep. Tracey Mann (R-Kan.), whose district includes GCSAA headquarters in Lawrence, recognized the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America’s 100th anniversary in a statement on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives on Sept. 15, 2026.

Mann spoke about GCSAA’s founding in 1926 as the National Association of Greenkeepers of America by Col. John Morley. He said that for a century, the men and women GCSAA represents have played an essential role in one of the nation’s favorite pastimes.

“They understand turf, water, soil, weather, pest management, equipment and conservation,” Mann said. “They manage not only the course that golfers see, but the natural resources and the ecosystems that surround it.”

In July, Mann introduced H.Res. 1455, a bipartisan House resolution honoring GCSAA’s 100th anniversary. The resolution recognizes GCSAA as the top golf course management association in the United States. Read the resolution.
