I am a new deer hunter. I have hunted in Florida for hogs with rifle and shotgun. This is my first year bow hunting in ny and nj for deer. It is very difficult. Many questions nd a lot to learn. No pictures yet.

I killed that one when I was still working in Atlanta. Now, I'm not too far from Vidalia. About half way between Vidalia and Savannah. There are good deer all around the state, just a matter of finding them.

Who cares if he's bothering you or not? Kill him! Sure....every store has meat for sale, but taking out this animal might make someone feel "manly". I mean, why not put a bullet in the brain of a beautiful animal? I'm sure these "men" have empty fridges, and they're dead broke. Naturally....gasoline, bullets, bows, and arrows are affordable. Go figure.

Personally, I think "hunters" have major insecurity problems. Maybe in the bedroom.....or elsewhere. One can only hope for a "wrongful death" due to a mistaken camouflage outfit. Rest in peace. Not.

    wallacej,

To wish a "wrongful death" to someone for hunting is completely uncalled for. I am sure if you look around this great world wide web you can find other sites with other woderful people like yourself to post your comments to. As for the one you just made on here, grow up! I hope others read your last post and then you ask for help in the future. You can rest assured you will get none from me and I hope others will do the same.

As for my deer hunting this season I will post a pic soon. Rifle season is over in MN but the muzzleloader season is soon to be upon us. Good luck to all of those beginning your season.

And by the way PETA.....people eating tasty animals!

My father was a Korean War Veteran who killed humans in the course of his service. We had rifles in my house that he made sure my brother and I knew how to use. When I was 12 I used one of those rifles to shoot a feral hog. I was in my 10 foot jon boat and the pig was on an island in a river. I froze most of the meat in my parents downstairs freezer, and grilled the rest for our dinner. My father was furious that I killed the animal, but he ate it anyway. One day on the way home from playing golf we rounded a corner and a group of doves jumped up and flew off. My father, still disgusted said, "I suppose you would shoot them too." I answered only, "Yes."

I was asked to participate in a realtime on-line forum that was hosted by a local newspaper. We were warned that the content must not get personal and that the online software would automatically block offensive words. I tried typing the word MORTGAGE and was blocked. For once they got it right. Mortgage is offensive.

I'm not a hunter and just throw the hook into the lake when visiting my cousin's and I am really a weenie when it comes to dead animals, I say a pray for the stupid squirrel that runs in front of my car. But for those that do hunt, that's fine with me too.

But what does having to file an insurance claim because of a deer have anything to do with the issue? Could have just as easily been someone or something else walking or driving into your vehicle. That's why we buy insurance, and I know the argument especially in suburban areas where there are some deer and the incident of deer and cars is probably a little higher, it could have just as easily been a turkey or like back in Jersey our mechanic's cows used to get loose. Just my opinion.

Grew up hunting and did so until about 10-12 years ago. Lack of time was my biggest deterrent and the fact unless on a guided hunt somewhere very hard to find accessible hunting property anymore. Have hunted elk in Colorado, mule deer in northern New Mexico, antelope in Wyoming and bear in Montana.......and all types of birds from pheasant, to doves, to ducks & geese from the great plains to South America. No longer hunt but hold nothing against those that do. Like alcohol and tobacco, its still legal.....for now anyway.

I've heard all kinds of arguments for and against hunting. I couldn't care less what you want to do, I prefer not to, but this rational, to pick up arms to eliminate future collisions with animals, is cretinous.

Here's some food for thought and don't get all ruffled...

"The measure of a society can be how well its people treat its animals." ~ Mohandas Gandhi.

We all have to kill from time to time to live. It's very difficult not to. But what does it say to take pleasure to whack an animal, minding its own business in the forest, saw off its head, then pose with a smirk covered in blood without of thought of the unspeakable pain inflicted? Is it that far of a step to go more heinous?

And some of my best friends partake and I love them to pieces.

Just throwing it out there... What's to fear from debate and self-reflection?
