I thought this was ironic, was hopping in the truck to go get some irrigation parts for a break this morning and someone left the radio on the right-wing hate station with a local guy on it, caller happened to call in and said he was willing to be put on President Obama's hate list. The host asked him if he was on any government assistance, the caller said "yea, I'm on food stamps, but I am starting a new job and getting off of them" (which I applaud him for), the host said that is the way to get on the presidents hate list. Can anyone explain that one to me? I guess since he was getting of government assistance, I'm guessing now the government and President Obama won't have control over him?

I just found it funny in a way, (not that it's funny for people and families to have to rely on assistance) that here people like this guy that are leaning so far to the right and will bash the president and government in general was using government assistance. My question to them is, if they hate the government so much why take the assistance from them?

I know politics has been taking a back seat to the tragedy in Colorado as it should, and having a busy summer, but oh my how some people think?

The caller is obviously a strange bird but could the talk show host have been using a little sarcastic humor with this guy? It probably wouldn't have been wise if he did because this caller would have been reinforced.

It's more more for the elderly Mel....But I believe this is the latest Hype....I'm for elderly assistance with out a doubt

While spending on the food stamp program has increased 100 percent under President Barack Obama, the government continues to push more Americans to enroll in the welfare program.

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has embraced entire promotional campaigns designed to encourage eligible Americans to participate in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), or food stamps.

A pamphlet currently posted at the USDA website encourages local SNAP offices to throw parties as one way to get potentially eligible seniors to enroll in the program.

"Throw a Great Party. Host social events where people mix and mingle," the agency advises. "Make it fun by having activities, games, food, and entertainment, and provide information about SNAP. Putting SNAP information in a game format like BINGO, crossword puzzles, or even a ‘true/false' quiz is fun and helps get your message across in a memorable way."

Next time I get in the truck and someone has left that station on, they will be working with Mr. Weedeater the rest of the summer.

This is what the new era of super-PAC run and paid for campaigning looks like, folks. No research, no fact check, just baloney that rolls right back around and hurts the candidate. You gotta hate this if you're the campaign manager for either candidate (if it's your candidate who looks like an idiot from it).
    Nice work.

Anyone see the speech Gov. Romney gave to the Olympic team back in Salt Lake?

I forget which show I saw it on yesterday, but it showed Gov. Romney giving a speech to the Olympic team and congratulating them on making it to the Olympics, but he also told them "You didn't get here alone" "You had a coach, parent, who helped you along the way" Gee sounds kind of familiar. The more I see old clips of Romney, the more I think him and the president are just alike.

(also saw a clip from the 90's I think on Stewart, he was commenting on blind trusts and it was certainly a different answer then he used last week. To paraphrase, he said people tell the blind trust what to do, so it's not really blind.)

That is true..........just not the holder of the blind trust. You didn't think they just threw $20,000,000 on someones desk on Wall Street and said I'll be back in 8 years to get it did you Mel?

Or, if you're really not excited about another Obama-Biden ticket - which most people, including Scott, would admit to if being honest with oneself - you could push for a Democrat twosome I heard about today. I only wish I thought of it myself. But, alas, I didn't. I heard it on the radio.

Supposedly, disgraced Rep Anthony Weiner wants to get back into it. He's thinking of running at the top of the ticket with disgraced Attorney General Eric Holder as his Veep.

And that, of course, would make for a Weiner-Holder ticket.

    Fox News...where's my news?
What the hell is "Romneyshambles"? Fox News? HELLOOOOOOO. Why won't you report on this stuff?

Why is almost every other news outlet in the world reporting on Romney attempting to eat not only his foot, but his entire leg over in London? He messed up - big deal. Report on it! He made himself and the country he's trying to represent look like rude idiots - there's enough of that going around. Maybe he could've toned it down.

You couldn't not see it if you read news print online or not. It was everywhere...except on foxnews. Here's why that's a problem: CREDIBILITY. Whether it was blown out of proportion or true, you have to report facts, even when they don't help your agenda. Any news agency that cherry picks like this, including NBC and their ilk, should be ignored. Just. Stop. It's easy. There's nothing balanced about any of it. So why listen to or read it? Why would you deprive yourself of factual information? That seems a ridiculous thing to do to yourself. It just makes you less informed and unable to make consistently good decisions.
That they have to have "Fair and Balanced" in their title...seriously. That's like any of us putting "HARD WORKING" after our title. It's implied by the job we do...anyone trying to draw more attention to it by mentioning it is trying to hide that they're doing the least amount of hard work...unbelievable. Stop getting your news from bad places, both sides. sheesh.

We will toast your youthful good looks. Thanks!
..but, I know you know, that I know you know what I'm talking about.

and that is: partisan media outlets (left and right) will not report facts unless it helps their sponsors sell more of what their selling. Worse, if there's a bad word against their agenda, the stupid viewer or reader will turn it off and go find something that's more soothing to them even if it's devoid of any fact or reason -
So my sentiment remains this, if you rely on these sources for your bread and butter general world knowledge and info - you discount your ability to hold up a meaningful conversation when the topics of the day come up.

Pete, When I googlenews search Mitt Romney on his day in London and get over 50 hits from news sources from all over the globe saying the same thing - but not one from Foxnews - seriously? They missed the story? Really.

My wife and I tried to go to Chick-Fil-A for dinner last night to emphasize our belief in free speech but the line at 6:45 p.m. was completely around the building in two directions. We went up the street to In and Out instead of waiting two hours to eat! When public officials start telling legitimate business that they are not welcome to their area, that is beyond stupid censorship. Let the market determine that. Wallmart has been the other punching bag that liberal politicians want to run out of town simply because they are non-union. Last I heard, both of these companies are profitable and employee people in those things called jobs! When did government at any level gain the right to decide what business is correct for the people? That certainly isn't free speech and is censorship and prejudice at its worst! People have the right to their opinions and beliefs.

I am obviously open minded when it comes to homosexuality. As such I have had many homosexual friends and co-workers make their sexuality known to me. These people were never going to be heterosexuals. They were born that way. So for someone like me, taking a stance against the rights of homosexuals is tantamount to taking a stance against a particular race. Hating in unacceptable.

    (cut-n-paste)

Cathy Hosie Roberts, " I would just like to say thanks to all those people who stood in line at chic-fil-a-holes yesterday. Good on ya for standing up for freedom of speech. Never mind that it's not what Mr. Cathy says but rather the fact that he sends money to hate groups that literally are trying to KILL gays. Forget that, no you, you stood up for your rights and your "good Christian" values.

That five or ten bucks you spent, that really showed me. As you lined the pocket of big business, to show me, hundreds, if not thousands of starving children in this country went to bed last night on empty stomachs. But I'm certain your God was just oh so proud of you when you stuffed your face.

Mr. Cathy, the 'good Christian' pays his workers minimum wage, the same that most make in this country. Because so many of his workers suffer on minimum wage the vast majority receive welfare. But you don't like welfare either. Mr. Cathy doesn't provide his employees (at least the ones who served you your sandwich) any kind of health care. But %uc% the affordable care act too.

Maybe you need to evaluate your 'good Christian' values. Maybe your ten bucks could have fed a homeless person. You could have bought ten "dollar burgers" at McDonalds... But again thanks, I'm certain God is very impressed that you stood against gays instead of standing for love and charity."
