And so, the moral of the story is......

......since it can be edited at will, don't ever take Wikipedia as the truth.

So that's where Tracy has been, he's being vetted.....can't wait for the debate between him and Biden.

I'm a little surprised that it's been quite after Gov. Romney's announcement. You guys on the right aren't excited?

    Mel,

How can one get excited - we will now lose Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. The rich will get richer and the poor will get poorer and the middle class will no longer be middle class. That is, if Romney wins the Presidency.

I'm curious as to how Romney / Ryan are going to run in Florida on cutting Medicare. Even Rick Scott won't go that far.

    Regards,

What I really don't grasp is why pick such a polarizing figure like Ryan. It goes against what I thought they needed. In my opinion, they needed someone to pick up swing voters and moderates, like myself. Maybe there's some inside baseball stuff I don't understand going on, but the pick totally turned me off.

And by 'moderate' I mean I like the idea and principals behind fiscal conservatism, but not when it's teamed with social conservatism. These two are just too much. This is a totally unbalanced ticket that appeals to the base conservative and nobody else. So, since they have the base all wrapped up anyhow, why alienate any more voters than you have to by not having someone who can balance your candidate? This is a problem ticket. I don't think it's going to end well.

I bet a third party is looking better every year to a lot of people.

dunno, Pete. Rubio maybe? I see why it had to be Ryan, I just think it's too hardcore Republican values to attract a lot of fence sitters.
Another angle: A few shining stars, like a Rubio or a Christie, can see the writing on the wall for this one and are keeping their powder dry for 2016. If you're labeled an 'also-ran' on a losing Romney ticket it kind of shoots your chances for a presidential bid. I think Christie looks good and I like Rubio because he has a perspective on being an 'American' that not everyone has. Clever young lions are clever. They're biding their time. If Christie doesn't have a heart attack by then he'll be the 2016 nominee.
I don't think Romney 'gets' why the Bain issue isn't going away. He can't see the double standard of running and being invested in a company that specializes in killing American jobs and sending them overseas, as their business model, while at the same time touting how he's all about the American worker and creating jobs. That he can justify those two things tells everything I could possibly need to know about him. He's inconsistent -- the last thing you want in a president.
And although I loved to hate on the guy, and he deserved it, at least Bush II was consistent.

Ryan's plan does not change anything for people 55 years and older.
There is a premium support plan (similar to Medicare Part B) for those under 55. This change will make it possible to sustain Medicare for generations.

Obama has already taken 750 billion out of Medicare and transferred it to ObamaCare. Under Obama Medicare will go broke (that means no more money for anyone else) by 2022.

Medicare is going to end as we know it no matter who is president.

    Have you read Ryan's plan?

If you are interested in the truth about Ryan's plan do some research.
If not keep parroting Ed Schulz and Rachel Maddow.

I am 54 and have kids and family members under 55. If they raised the limit on taxable income from $110M to $250M we would be set for 75 years.

I think Mr Ryan's plan was to reform medicare not cut it. It cannot continue in its present form with less and less Americans contributing to the pot through payroll deductions. It is simply unsustainable. Everyone tends to forget that Obama cut $741 billion from the program to HELP FUND OBAMADONTCARE. But again never let facts get in the way of a good thread on the forum.

I think you naysayers of Ryan should listen to what he has to actually say, not what the press claims he is saying. He is actually presenting solutions to a problem that will go beyond broke in its current form. The phony throw granny off the cliff claims of the dems simply don't hold up when looked at honestly. The press just repeats the mantra as was proved when Soledad O'Brian got caught trying to use an extremist left wing rag as her source of information while interviewing someone the other night. Ignoring the planned talking points, Ryan is bright, ambitious, energetic and knows Washington and the budget process better than most anyone in politics today. He will greatly compliment Romney. He and Romney will present facts and solutions rather than the constant smear tactics of Obama Biden. Compare Ryan against Biden. If loose cannon Biden didn't hurt Obama and still doesn't have much lasting impact, Ryan will prove to be a breath of fresh air and intelligence. Being a senior citizen myself, I think the honest presentation on MediCare will be appreciated more than feared. Seniors want to feel the money won't run out. Romney and Ryan offer a path to sustain it while Obama / Biden continue to keep their heads in the sand and pretend it is ok and simply last forever. A little truth will be beneficial and seniors will listen in spite of the Obama press!

Sandy, who is really running as president? Gov. Romney or Congressman Ryan? I do know I get all caught up in Ryan's budget and "solutions", and they scare the bejesus out of me, but then I have to remember we are suppose to be checking out the Romney "budget plan" and other stuff.....has anyone seen it yet?

Also don't go bashing President Obama and VP Biden and not bash the Romney/Ryan ticket, they both are guilty of Bear Soap, I'm getting tired of listening to stump speeches there is nothing in them from both sides. And everyone knows I'm the biggest Obama kiss-up out here.

    Even in her pant suit?

I would have to agree, with her work as Secretary of State she would be a great VP, then she could run in 2016.

Ya, from the news I saw, she was really groovin' the other other day pretending to have fun, while dancing in her royal blue pantsuit alongside local South African women in their tan, beige, and brown garb.

And that's what we pay our Secretary of State to do?

Mel, the only personal attacks I have been hearing are coming from the left. Questioning someones performance is not what I would call a personal attack. So far, Romney is a crook, a murderer, a cruel butcher of peoples jobs, futures, etc. and of course he wants banks and large corporations to plunder the working class. Don't forget that Ryan throws old ladies off cliffs and we have a republican congressman punching an older lady in the face. Republican candidates have been accused of starving and killing kids and of course they want filthy air and water and want to add to global warming! I have yet to hear anything out of the rnc or the candidates going after anything but their opponents record. Don't forget the constant accusations of racism and other trumped up accusations against conservative candidates. I simply don't see anything like this filth coming out of the conservative candidates or the rnc!

Sandy, your aren't listening enough then, well in my opinion, and the right has been calling the president names since he took office, socialist, and worst. Listen to a stump speech, of course they are just to rile up the base or the people at the event, who are going to vote for that person anyway.

I think the term socialist is not being used to name call but rather to describe how many people feel about his beliefs and governance. Keith, my wife claims I can't hear out of either ear but I think that is a defense mechanism after being married for nearly 44 years!
