So far my recent stuff has been left to twitter, don't know why my republican state rep decided to follow me, but I'm willing to play the game. Funny, on a couple of issues we agree on, our solutions tend to be different.

I have been wanting to discuss the Inversion deal with corporations, but since Walgreens is staying.....Jon Stewart had a bit about 2 weeks ago and showed this company Mylan, wanting to invert to the Netherlands, because of our 35% tax bracket for businesses, but what their research showed with all the different tax credits and breaks they were paying an effective rate of 16%. Also just saw a story of some top 20 businesses that don't pay taxes due to different credits and deductions.

I will admit, 35% is a little high, but with these big company resources they never pay that. Yet the small companies without those resources usually end up paying.

I guess I'm tired of politicians "screaming we tax too much!" I wish they would sit down and decide how do we fund the country's obligations, and settle on a fair tax policy, (and that is not the one that relies on sales taxes).

    Greetings,

OK - I will start the war.

    Democrats and Republicans;

Will someone please tell me what's wrong with all the people that run this country!!! I guess they say, "we are broke"and can't help our own Veterans, Seniors and Orphans Etc.????

But, over the last several years they have provided DIRECT CASH aid to HAMAS 351 MILLION, LIBYA - 1.45 BILLION, EGYPT - 397 MILLION, MEXICO - 622 MILLION - RUSSIA - 380 MILLION, HAITI - 1.4 BILLION, - JORDAN 463 MILLION, KENYA - 816 MILLION, SUDAN - 870 MILLION, NIGERIA - 456 MILLION, UGANDA - 451 MILLION, CONGO - 359 MILLION, ETHIOPIA - 981 MILLION, PAKISTAN - 2 BILLION, SOUTH AFRICA - 566 MILLION, SENEGAL 698 MILLION, MOZAMBIQUE - 404 MILLION, ZAMBIA - 331 MILLION, KAZAKHSTAN - 304 MILLION, IRAQ - 1.08 BILLION, TANZANIA - 554 MILLION. A TOTAL of $14,933,000,000 - THAT IS 14.933 BILLION With LITERALLY BILLIONS OF DOLLARS and they STILL HATE US!!! " NOTE - HOW MANY AFRICAN NATIONS".

BUT, On the other hand, our military is being cut, our soldiers are having their benefits cut and the Government has gone back on its promise of free medical care and denying disability to those physically and mentally torn apart for NO GOOD REASON IN POLITICAL WARS. Our retired seniors, living on a ' fixed income, have their taxes raised to send to these countries.

OUR OWN CITIZENS receive no aid unless they are the ones who refuse to work and have babies for WELFARE PAYMENTS. Nor do they get any breaks, while our Government and Religious Organizations will POUR HUNDREDS of BILLIONS OF $$$$$$$$$$ AND TONS of FOOD to FOREIGN COUNTRIES and the ILLEGALS and LEECHES within OUR BORDERS!

AMERICA: A COUNTRY WHERE WE HAVE our Brave Warriors, Damaged for Life, Waiting Yearlong + for Their Due, and Elderly going without needed medication. And, the Mentally Ill without treatment, and for all of us, our safety is at risk because PRISONERS ARE BEING RELEASED back onto the streets due "To Lack Of Funds"'.

YET, They Will Have A Benefit Show for the people of HAITI, on 12 TV STATIONS and ships and planes lining up with food, water, tents, clothes, bedding, doctors and medical supplies.

    No surprises here, eh?

    - Obama campaign platform, 2008: "I said that I would remove our combat troops from Iraq in 16 months..."

    - Obama addresses the media, 2014 just before leaving for vacation: "What I just find interesting is the degree to which this issue keeps on coming up, as if this was my decision. Under the previous administration, we had turned over the country to a sovereign, democratically elected Iraqi government"

    Yep, he's blaming Bush.

The Status of Forces agreement was signed by the Bush administration before he left office, Maliki didn't want us there any longer, President Obama, probably as part of his campaign promise, and with the wishes of many Americans who wanted us out as well, did not pursue an extension of the agreement. I don't know if President Obama can be all at fault here. Could there have been things he could have done? I don't know what that would have been, except drone strikes if intelligence was showing the buildup of ISIS. Those aren't our countries, we can't just go dictating what we want them to do, how do you think that would go here, someone telling us how to run our country? (Of course if we are giving money to them, I would guess we could dictate some of those terms?).

Capt. Did you leave out Israel? Or do we not give direct cash aid to them?

    Hi Met et al,

I don´t get much time to argue politics now that I actually have to work for a living as a golf course superitendent.

Years ago this site http://www.treasury.gov/resource-center ... fault.aspx told you all the types of aid that the US gives to other countries. The 3 billion to Israel each year is a military gift that does not need to be repaid. There were three types of aid : no repay, that with collateral like mining oil rights etc, and then a form that needed to be repaid. You should find that we have traded aid for all the valued assets in those countries or for political favors.

The Israelis did not get their 7 times 70 quantity of dead in this Gaza squirmish they only got about 25 to one with about 80% dead being women and children. On the other hand the Palestinians with no sophisitcated guidance equipment killed +/- 65 soldiers and three civilians????

No solution in site as the Federal Reserve is controlled by the world´s Jewish community and the Fed rules the world. Instability in the world plays right into the hands of oil industry and military industrial complex. Same old same old, listen to Eisenhower´s last speech about military ind comp and some of Kennedy´s last speeches before his expedited exit from public life. They say it all.

I heard it said that Israel protects its people with its missiles. Hamas protects its missiles with its people (mostly now dead women and children).

My stepson, who recently completed Basic and Tech School for the US Air Force, made it to his duty station at Misawa AFB, Japan last week where he will be for at least the next 2 years. You mentioned how the government treats the vets. It isn't just the vets. Joel says his pay is being cut $50 per week beginning Jan. 1.

Ok, hope Israel blows Hamas off the map, but our own problems haven't gone away. IRS is still corrupt and covering up, all the way to the White House. Seems in Nixon's articles of impeachment, obstruction of justice was kind of key! EPA, IRS, HHS, Homeland Security and how many other political tools of our President have blatantly covered up and blocked investigations. We have a complete cluster you know what with the border and immigration and a bunch of crazies wanting to just open the borders and let everyone come and be citizens. Iran , Korea, Russia, China and the Middle East are all the biggest mess they have ever been and our corporate tax policies keep companies overseas and called names. We want to block everything to do with oil that will make us heavily employed and off dependency on corrupt countries. It is like we are a country that is trying hard to commit suicide! As Mel would say, just my opinion. Kick all the bums out and get people with common sense to be our political leaders. Kill political correctness today and let's start making some tough common sense decisions!

    Sandy,

Lets start with an EYE OPENER!!

$ 11 Billion DOLLARS is spent on welfare to ILLEGAL ALIENS each year by state governments.

$ 12 BILLION DOLLARS a year are spent on FOOD ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS such as FOOD STAMPS, WIC, and FREE SCHOOL LUNCHES for ILLEGAL ALIENS.

$ 2.5 BILLION DOLLARS a year is spent on MEDICAID for ILLEGAL ALIENS.

$4 BILLION DOLLARS a year is spent on PRIMARY and SECONDARY SCHOOL EDUCATION for CHILDREN here ILLEGALLY and they cannot speak a word of ENGLISH.

$ 12 BILLION DOLLARS a year is spent for EDUCATION for the American Born Children of ILLEGAL ALIENS known as ANCHOR BABIES.

$ 2 MILLION DOLLARS a day is spent to INCARCERATE ILLEGAL ALIENS.

30 percent of all FEDERAL PRISONERS are ILLEGAL ALIENS.

$ 30 BILLION DOLLARS a year is spent on ILLEGAL ALIENS for WELFARE and SOCIAL SERVICES by the AMERICAN TAXPAYERS.

$ 200 BILLION DOLLARS a year in suppressed AMERICAN WAGES are caused by the ILLEGAL ALIENS.

In 2006, ILLEGAL ALIENS sent home 45 $ BILLION DOLLARS in REMITTANCES to their Country of Orgin.

The Dark Side of illegal immigration: Nearly one million sex crimes are committed by illegal Immigrants in the United States.

The total cost is a WHOPPING $ 338.3 BILLION DOLLARS a year which would be enough to stimulate the economy for the citizens of this country.

Captain, all we have to do is improve our legal immigration policy to attract the best and brightest along with the most willing and enforce the laws we have and give nothing to anyone unless they meet all qualifications of citizenship. Enforce the laws we have, starting today, deport all criminals tomorrow, mandatory e-verify and bring back the guest worker program. Having worked with hard working Mexican people most of my life, it is a myth that they want citizenship. The majority want to save money and go back home to Mexico! We need to go back and analyze this automatic citizenship thing about being born in the country and determine what was really meant by it. It was clearly related to slavery and the injustice of the day. I don't care what group and we have many, are coming in illegally. The key word is illegally! We are a kind nation but we are rapidly destroying what our fore fathers built by thinking we can be everything to everybody! Yes, we may be the land of hope but without using common sense again, we are going to destroy ourselves. When will the next terrorist attack happen because of the laxity of our immigration policy? We already have gangs and cartels running wild in this country. Why don't we learn. Before anyone accuses me of being a racist, I am an equal opportunity offender. I don't want Scotsman getting into our country illegal either, nobody!

Capt. where did you get your numbers?

Here is an interesting link, it says in 2006 the government spent $59 billion on traditional welfare programs and $92 billion is spent on corporate subsidies.

    http://thinkbynumbers.org/government-sp ... tatistics/

Then there is this story on how misleading and with the right spin (I guess maybe pun intended?) numbers can be?

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/fac ... _blog.html

Capt. Here is the fact check story on your numbers.

    http://www.factcheck.org/2009/04/cost-o ... mmigrants/

While we do have problems it seems no one wants to step up and lead us out of them. Everyone is afraid to raise taxes, (or at least maybe fix the tax codes), no one wants to work together to fix things, I know some will say the republicans have been offering a lot of legislation to fix items, but honestly they don't go anywhere because when democrats suggest changes it is no. They don't want to offer to work to find solutions, and of course Sen. Reid isn't doing much better, but when things do get through bi-partisan wise, the house just rejects stuff that would make the president look good. I do think the president tries to lead, but he can offer a republican solution such as the ACA, and then the republicans reject it. Not that I would agree with all of the presidents solutions either.

We need to get together for good dialogue and when we do propose tax credits, let's make sure they actually work. I heard a commenter one morning on Morning Joe say, we pass tax credits, deductions and other items on feel good basis, or because it's suppose to spur the economy, but I ask, let's go back and look and see if it really does, does the credit create more revenues then the credit. They have found in a lot of cases at the state level here in Missouri, tax credits haven't brought in the extra revenue to cover the credits, so the state's revenue drops.

But what do I know, I don't even get the point Clay is making about irony except that the president kept his campaign promise of combat troops out, the only thing he didn't do is probably give credit to President Bush on that one.

Wahlin checking in for duty. I must admit I have been spending my time drinking rum, fishing and flirting with tanned women on the beach. Politics does not even approach being a worthy subject anymore. The Republican Party is fragmenting. Obamacare is very well entrenched into the American health system. Hillary is the next President if she wants it. What's to discuss? As someone mentioned earlier, I have all day if I choose to spend it that way! :D

Scott, too much rum and probably not enough women! Hillary seems to be self destructing every time she opens her mouth! She may not even get the nomination of her party. Republicans may seem to be in disarray but they just need to avoid any major face plant and they will win a bigger majority in the house and take over the senate! I have no feel on who the next President may be but I don't think Hillary will be there in the end. Not sure her health and all the challenges to her record will allow her to win.

Sandy, if people would step back and take a good long look at the candidates themselves instead of the party, we would be much better off. That is what I'm hoping for in the MO 7th, even the majority of Republicans here do not like our Republican Congressman, but the chances of a good conservative Democrat running against him are not good, but I'm hoping we come to our senses and elect Jim Evans over Billy Long. There will be some Republican gaffes before the election and they will fail to take over the Senate.

The big question for president is will Secretary Clinton self destruct enough to let a Republican candidate take over? I think they will be too busy running to the right to get the nomination and never get back to the center enough for them to win. Sort of what happened with Gov. Romney?

I'm not a big fan of Secretary Clinton, but with Republican candidates now mentioned, I have to give her the nod. Senator Warren is the other big name I hear on the Democratic side, I like some of her ideas, but there are areas she leans a little too far left, even for me.

Hopefully both parties produce better candidates, I would vote for Jon Huntsman in a heartbeat over any of the names I have heard bantered about on both sides.

    Andy,

If they are spending that kind of money, she must be doing good, I think you can take off more to play golf?

All kidding aside, I don't think people realize how government spending is a big part of the economy. Not to say, we could be a little smarter on what we spend some of that money on, hoping we are getting the bang for our buck. Must be why we spend so much on defenese (well the weapon side of it, I know on the people side of it we don't) that is a lot of bang?

Ron, several years ago when we had Marines blown up in Lebanon, the Russians had one of their people kidnapped. They found out who did it and sent a strong similar type message to the Lebanese terrorist. Not surprisingly, with the violence they inflicted on this guys family, the Russian soldier was released. During the same time, we had captives taken including a General. We played nice and fair and our guys were killed! Barbarians who I would consider followers of satan, not Allah, will understand one thing and that is superior power and brute force. Talking and negotiating just doesn't work in cases like this. While to find vengence would maybe make us feel better, why go after their families, just find and go after them, that is what we did to Bin Ladin. We are more then capable of doing that, to go after families in my opinion makes us no better then them.

Sandy Clark, CGCS said: Ron, several years ago when we had Marines blown up in Lebanon, the Russians had one of their people kidnapped. They found out who did it and sent a strong similar type message to the Lebanese terrorist. Not surprisingly, with the violence they inflicted on this guys family, the Russian soldier was released. During the same time, we had captives taken including a General. We played nice and fair and our guys were killed! Sorry Sandy but we purport ourselves to be a country of laws and civility. The world is a scarey and violent place. It always has been. I prefer that we progress into the future without adopting the type of reaction you're advocating. Do you really think "lopping off a few heads of their family members" is going to benefit our country and humanity in the long run? These guys have no fear of death. Your methods would not stop them and only would incite more violence. Does that mean we don't respond? Does that mean we appease them and negotiate? Of course not. But let's leave the over the top barbarism for others.

Taking the long view I'm not sure Russia's tactics have worked all that well for them either.

Your view Sandy runs against the grain of proven wisdom the world over, that being that hate begets hate. It's not sustainable and not in our collective best interest.

I hope this does not come off as holier than thou. Believe me there's a big part of my thoughts that roll approaches like yours around and around. But the challenge for all of us is to reign in those thoughts and act with civility. Lopping off domes certainly doesn't fit the bill.
