Nothig about his demise surprises me. Unstable folks have unstable ideas and do unstable things.
This is natural selection in action -- or poetry. Take your pick.

What a liberal hack. I think she has forgotten that the oil business has probably created more jobs then Obama has even thought of. We dont give money to the oil companies. They get to deduct business expenses just like the rest of us and Obama wants to take that away. Make them different from other companies, take away their freedom to be treated fair like other businesses. Now we actually do give money to solar companies who are going bankrupt left and right. So yea lets get the truth out there, we democrats want to infringe upon your rights as a company doing business in the US and not allow you to deduct your businesses expenses, but we want to retain all those rights for all the other businesses that we like.

No wonder this guys polling numbers are awful for an incumbent.

Your citing something that happened in 1875? Are you serious? We are way past that. No wonder this country will never get rid of racism, its people like you who cannot let go of it and keep throwing it in everyones face. Let it go, we can all coexist as the human race.

I'll move on when I feel like it. A marriage license is a government contract in this country. If a citizen can pay taxes and get every other sort of license offered by "We the People" (and wage war on our enemies) why should this one license be denied them in a country that supposedly has a separation between church and state?

I got an email from the President - despite never once donating 3 bucks for a chance at dinner with him, Michelle, and/or George Clooney - to make sure I knew of his new-found position on gay marriage.

I'm going to write him to congratulate him on finally doing what he claims he did in the first sentence of the email, as that is the real news of this story.

    Friend --

Today, I was asked a direct question and gave a direct answer:

I believe that same-sex couples should be allowed to marry.

I hope you'll take a moment to watch the conversation, consider it, and weigh in yourself on behalf of marriage equality:

    http://my.barackobama.com/Marriage

I've always believed that gay and lesbian Americans should be treated fairly and equally. I was reluctant to use the term marriage because of the very powerful traditions it evokes. And I thought civil union laws that conferred legal rights upon gay and lesbian couples were a solution.

But over the course of several years I've talked to friends and family about this. I've thought about members of my staff in long-term, committed, same-sex relationships who are raising kids together. Through our efforts to end the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy, I've gotten to know some of the gay and lesbian troops who are serving our country with honor and distinction.

What I've come to realize is that for loving, same-sex couples, the denial of marriage equality means that, in their eyes and the eyes of their children, they are still considered less than full citizens.

Even at my own dinner table, when I look at Sasha and Malia, who have friends whose parents are same-sex couples, I know it wouldn't dawn on them that their friends' parents should be treated differently.

So I decided it was time to affirm my personal belief that same-sex couples should be allowed to marry.

I respect the beliefs of others, and the right of religious institutions to act in accordance with their own doctrines. But I believe that in the eyes of the law, all Americans should be treated equally. And where states enact same-sex marriage, no federal act should invalidate them.

If you agree, you can stand up with me here.

    Thank you,

    Barack

As I said the president affirmed it to be the "real deal' yesterday. So also as I said, move on ready or not, no more argument. You can sleep with and marry anyone you want to Scott..........I approve.

So let a civil union be the equivalent for gay and lesbians. Same tax deductions, ability to have blanket insurance, 50% upon dissolution  , ability to pass on wealth etc. Just leave marriage alone, it is what it is, its between a man and a woman, defined by religion way back when and accepted by govt, regardless of seperation of church and state. That has no bearing on the argument

Dennis, once again how does it affect you in any way if Kurta and I decide to get married. The only person it might affect is Janet...and with Kurta's ability to use convincing arguments, I'm sure she would be fine with it after about 10 minutes.
Your idea of freedom seems to be very selective. If what I do doesn't hurt anyone else, then I should be allowed to do it.

Heck when I have heard (not much of a reader) passages from the Bible or the Koran about when people sin, and the stoning and cutting off hands and the like, that sounds pretty ugly to me. Whoops I did use religion.

I guess the deal is if marriage is such a religions institution, they why let the government govern it at all? Separation of church and state. Lets call them all civil unions, give the deductions, tax credits, and other benefits, and leave the marriages in the church?

I went to my neighborhood bar and grill after work today for an early dinner. Not that you care, but I had the best piece of fresh grilled red snapper I have had in years. Anyway, I was sitting next to three guys who were talking about how "stupid" liberals were for believing Obama's lies. One of the TV's had the news and was covering the NATO summit. One of the guys said, "NATO? What's that!" True story.

It is glaringly apparent some unclaimed fall into the "goofy" category as well.

ESL strikes again. Your is a possessive adjective, used to describe something as belonging to you. You're is the contraction of "you are" and is often followed by the present participle. I stayed awake in English class.
