What started out as we thought a simple mow/transport switch to replace, has now moved to possible bad alternator on our 2500e!  Has anyone had to replace one?  After the switch was replaced and didn't solve our problem, a John deere service manager had us hook up our battery charger to the alternator directly and run it to determine if the regulator was bad on the alt.  The reels spun once power was applied.  So, we bought a regulator,  that didn't fix it.  Last i had an electrician come out.  He feels the charger probably caused an overload on the alternator.  What he had us do was disconnect the positive to the alternator, hook that wire to the charger and see if the reels would spin, they didn't but the yellow light on the console came on with 5 blinks for a code.  Clear as mud?  Appreciate any help thanks, Billy

Blink Code 5 is DCV low, 48-volt alternator voltage less than 28 volts. There may be a diode burnt out in the alternator or worn brushes not giving you 46-50VDC. This is a common industrial alternator. check with a local automotive electrical rebuild shop. Check the terminals under the floor board where all the red + wires connect for corrosion. Hope this helps.

Summer 2019, same thing.  We took the alternator to the local Deere implement dealer and they put it on their tester.  Voltage less than half what it should have been.  Expensive replacement.
