   Not that it solves anything or gives any answers, but caught "The Blind Side" last night for the first time, what a great story and thankful that someone was saved from going hungry and by the grace of god and a loving family.

   Stats and facts would totally screw things up. You hit the nail on the head Scott. If stats and facts were expressed the libs wouldn't have a leg to stand on. Like almost 15% of households are on food stamps. The highest % since they started keeping records in 1969. If these programs are supposed to help, why has the percentage steadily climbed since these were implemented?
   
   The answer is simple. As you make it easier to get on these programs and relax requirements, you make more people dependent and make individual responsiblity less of an issue.

   Did anyone catch 60 Minutes last night.......the mecca of liberal America.........my new hero is Jose Rodgriquez.............the one who supervised the enhanced interrogation techniques by the CIA of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed. Lessly Stahl was actually offended that the gave KSM Insure, as means of extracting info. Obviously the product is good enough to give to cancer patients and old people that don't eat properly but not to known mastermind terrorists...........Jose said the man lost 50 lbs he really needed to lose so we actually aided in his health.    Talking about the more freebies you offer, the more people will take them, a family I know very well, has quit making house payments so they can qualify for a government program that will allow them to refinance. I can just hear the crying when it doesn't work out and they lose their house. These people also happen to own a a big RV that they can't afford and of course, they both retired within the last 18 months. They have 2 daughters, both in dysfunctional marriages and 6 grand kids between them. One of the daughters and her husband live in a trailer park that is bankrupt and the 4 of them may have to move back in with her parents. The other daughter has a husband that has been kicked out of their apartment by child protective services so you can imagine his character. They have four kids under 6, one of them a few months old. They have been ordered to move to a larger apartment to properly house the kids. Here is a perfect example of generational lack of responsibility. Going back to the grand parents, nobody in this extended family has ever been taught to achieve, none have gone beyond high school and none have ever heard of the word goal. Giving people like this more free things won't solve anything. Families like this need to be educated about planning for the future and spending within their means. Governments don't solve issues like this, they create the opportunity for it to become generational. I forgot to mention, these families are true blue democrats and think others should pay more to help them under achieve! Don't even ask me to count the out of wedlock pregnancies, miscarriages and abortions involved with this family.

   While a sad and tragic story, I bet if I went around the Ozarks I could find similar stories or maybe even more sad. But if asked here in the Ozarks, I bet they would call themselves Republican, (although most of them aren't voting anyway), just hate that you label them as democrats like it's a bad thing, are you saying all democrats are bad people, I guess I'm a bad person, if that is not your intent, did let's get past that point of labels, unless they are serving in office as a Republican or Democrat? (I know I probably need to watch how I label people too).
   
   I agree with you about programs that help educate and/or train, but who and how do they get paid for? I bet the cost would be higher then handing money out, (not that it's right). I guess my real question is what and who are offering up solutions? I don't see either party doing that because they are too busy fighting each other and not coming up with compromises to find solutions.

    I am not knocking all democrats. In this family, it goes back to believing that FDR was nearly a god. They have said that we are too poor to be republicans but none of them, beyond one family member, ever ventured beyond high school. I have counted as many as 7 out of wed lock births in this family over multiple generations. By comparison, the one daughter that moved out at 18 completed college, married a college graduate and raised two two kids that also went to college and also became successful. You have a successful side where one family is bringing in about a quarter million a year and the other side has created an environment where the 6 young children will do poorly in school, not go beyond high school and probably continue the unplanned births. Stopping your house payments while keeping your RV and looking to play the system sure can't be good examples to the rest of the family. The one family taught goals and achievement while the other family never planned beyond waking up the next day. I guess my emphasis is on the idea of self belief and the belief in achievement versus no goals or motivation to improve because accomplishment was never encouraged. The successful family happens to be conservative. Guess which family gives the most to charity to help the homeless and hungry?
