Encinitas Ranch Superintendent Todd Kochanowski elected president

The San Diego Golf Course Superintendents recently held their Annual Meeting and Elections at Coronado Golf Course in Coronado, Calif. Over 80 members turned out to elect their new leadership and hear about the state of the association. 

Encinitas Ranch Golf Club Superintendent Todd Kochanowski was elected President of the association. This marks Kochanowski’s second term as president, previously serving in 2017-2018. Joining Kochanowski on the executive board is Austin Daniells of Admiral Baker who was elected vice president and Jon Christenson of JC Resorts who was elected secretary/treasurer. Christenson is a past president of the GCSA of Northern California and the Iowa GCSA and will bring experience to an already solid group of directors. 

Host superintendent Mike Ashworth, Justin Jones of Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club and Michael Sullivan of Pauma Valley were also elected to the board. The affiliate liaison position went to Robbie Davis of Southwest Turf Support. Mike Rickelmann of The Golf Club of California, Jesus Gomez of The Welk, and Dallas Porter of Summit Golf (affiliate liaison) will continue to serve their current terms on the board.

Following the election, attendees were treated to a great lunch and round of golf. Coronado is a member favorite and Superintendent Mike Ashworth had the golf course in excellent condition and the views of Glorietta Bay and San Diego Bay never disappoint. 

A special thank you to Chapter Executive Sandy Cooper, outgoing President Matt Partridge of The Country Club of Rancho Bernardo and outgoing Past President Brandon Williams of The Links at Lakehouse. Three of my favorite people in the golf industry and the countless hours they put in to make the association successful do not go unnoticed. Well done!
