New GCSAAPAC Trustees

Three at-large GCSAA members have been named to the Board of Trustees of GCSAAPAC.

Three at-large GCSAA members have been named to the Board of Trustees of GCSAAPAC, the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America’s federal political action committee. The members were selected by the Government Affairs Committee and approved by the GCSAA Board of Directors at the end of the year.

The 2018 GCSAAPAC board will be composed of:

Mark Jordan, CGCS, is chairman Government Affairs Committee Chairman in 2018 and will also chair the GCSAAPAC board this year. He has served on the GAC as a committee member for three years and is active in government affairs matters in Ohio. He is a current GCSAA board member. Jordan is the Natural Resources Leader at Westfield Group Country Club in Westfield Center, Ohio.

Kevin Sunderman will be the Government Affairs Committee and GCSAAPAC Board vice chairman in 2018. He has served on the GAC as a committee member for 3 years and is active in government affairs matters in Florida. He is a current GCSAA board member. Sunderman is the director of grounds at Isla Del Sol Yacht & Country Club in St. Petersburg, Fla., where he has worked since 2005.

Scott Ramsay

Scott Ramsay, CGCS, from the The Course at Yale in New Haven, Conn., has been a GCSAA Grassroots Ambassador since 2014. Ramsay served on the GCSAA Government Affairs Committee from 2014 to 2016. He has attended National Golf Day.  In addition, he helps lead the green/golf industry on legislative matters impacting Connecticut.

Bob Nielsen

Robert Nielsen Jr., CGCS at Bedford Golf and Tennis Club in Bedford, N.Y., has been a GCSAA Grassroots Ambassador since 2014. Nielsen served on the GCSAA Government Affairs Committee from 2011 to 2013. He attends National Golf Day annually and also helps lead the Metroplitan GCSA in legislative and regulatory matters at the state and local level in New York. Nielsen received the Sherwood A. Moore Award in 2018.

Jeffrey Jensen

Jeffrey Jensen, superintendent at Jackson Hole Golf & Tennis Club in Jackson Hole, Wy., has been an active Grassroots Ambassador since 2015.  Jensen has been attending National Golf Day the past few years and also has a political science degree from the University of Nebraska. He serves on the board of directors of the Peaks & Prairies GCSA.

Bob Helland, director of congressional and federal affairs, is GCSAAPAC Board committee liaison, and Chava McKeel, director of government affairs, serves as treasurer.

The first meeting of the GCSAAPAC Board will be Feb. 5 at the 2018 Golf Industry Show in San Antonio. During this meeting, the board will develop an annual fundraising plan including participation and contribution goals. The board's goal is to raise at least $15,000 during its first full year of operation, in advance of the mid-term Congressional elections.

"Scott, Bob and Jeffrey will be fantastic additions to our first ever GCSAAPAC Board of Trustees," GCSAA CEO Rhett Evans said. "They have a strong desire to see our association increase its presence and efforts in Washington, D.C., and have been tirelessly advocating on behalf of the profession at the local, state and federal levels of government. I am proud of their work as GCSAA Grassroots Ambassadors and wish them success in helping GCSAA reach its GCSAAPAC fundraising goals."
