Lawrence, Kan. (Nov. 28, 2024) – Kyle Maynard, best-selling author and focus of the ESPN documentary “A Fighting Chance”  will share his inspirational insights into dealing with and overcoming challenges Feb. 1 during  the Send-Off Celebration, presented in partnership with John Deere, at the 2024 GCSAA Conference and Trade Show in Phoenix.

Maynard had been scheduled to appear at the 2023 CTS in Orlando, but he was unable to attend at the last minute.

Born with a rare condition known as congenital amputation, that left him with arms that end at the elbows and legs that end near his knees, he learned early on to live life independently and without prosthetics. He is the  first man to bear crawl to the top of  Africa’s Mount Kilimanjaro and the summit of Argentina’s Mount Aconcagua.

He is on a mission to make the world a better place and to inspire others to do the same by sharing his story and living by example. He travels across continents, speaking to thousands of executives and students, athletes and warriors, to share his “No Excuses” philosophy. He is a humanitarian who passionately supports numerous charities and commits time and resources to work with wounded and recovering U.S. military veterans.

“We all have challenges that we are working to overcome, so I know Kyle’s message will resonate will our members and all our attendees,” GCSAA CEO Rhett Evans said. “After being unable to attend last year, we are excited that he’ll be joining us in Phoenix to share his inspirational story.”

The Send-Off Celebration will feature Maynard along with the presentation of the GCSAA Col. John Morley Award, announcement of Collegiate Turf Bowl winners and introduction of the 2024 GCSAA Board of Directors.

The Send-Off Celebration will take place at 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, in Ballroom 120 at the Phoenix  Convention Center. The event is open to all GCSAA Conference and Trade Show registrants.
