It's not like it's a job requirement for them to be smart or sensitive to the bigger picture - in fact, the job kind of encourages you to leave that stuff at home, else you can get hurt. As a result, it's been my experience that you get a lot of hyper-macho d-bags who have a chip on their shoulder, or worse, insecure men who's only way to feel a sense of power in their lives is to act as law enforcement. Creepy.

True enough that there are some cops who can be a-holes but it's actually pretty easy to stay out of their way. All you really have to do to dramatically reduce your run-ins with a-hole cops is not break the law. Who knows what the whole back story is to those kids getting sprayed. I'm sure there are a million versions of what happened but I think it's fair to say that getting pepper sprayed is pretty much the cost of doing business for a protester.

That's hilarious Scott. Not sure what painting that actually is but I do remember seeing it in the awful art history class I had to take in college so it must be a big deal.

Sorry Kurta. Looks like you been scooped by Scotty. Maybe he'll give you credit later on in a footnote.

I had him by almost five hours -- check the time stamp in the random image 2 thread.
Or was that your point... :)
The symbolism of an overweight cop casually spraying the constitution with pepper spray says a boatload. Pretty poignant IMO.

But yeah, Scott totally cherry picked me. ;>

Yeah, that was my point. I saw your pic then Scott's appeared later on. I think Scott should put a * next to his.

Just wondering does the services even have cooks anymore? I was thinking that was all contracted out, anyone know?

I do know (and this was back around 1947 or 48, my dad joined the Navy and was a cook on board his ship, but his battle station was on a 20 mm gun on their mine layer. Afterwards he joined the Air Force and was a gunner on a B-29 for a few years until he switched jobs.

To get to the politics of it, Clay I agree 100% with your picture but also agree with the movement of the 99%, although I don't agree 100% of all their tactics.

Mel I think you need to change that to 98%.......heard we have 2% of the population now considered rich. If we could just get some of those 98% to actually look for a job we might have more.

David, it really is 97% since there is 1% fighting overseas.

I would tell you if the job creators would get off their butts and hire since we have left the tax rate low for them to do that.

Getting off the topic and probably for another thread, I just don't understand why these people who are suppose to represent us can not come to some agreement and if need be change some entitlements and raise some taxes, cut some spending or direct it towards providing the biggest bang for our buck.

    Scott,

I'm guessing your son has enjoyed being fed while serving.

I do not think they had cooks where my son did the majority of his service, which is why I would have asked to be a cook had I joined the military.

Research has shown that the full does of pepper spray used for non-lethal police force can reduce obesity risk and has been shown to reduce and even cure diabetes in rats. The active ingredient in pepper spray, capsaicin, is also the active ingredient in arthritis creams and many anti-itch medicines.

Now, I don't want to see you older ones superintendents pepper spraying yourselves to get rid of your arthritis!

Whom then do the cooks feed? Themselves?

Where my son was, was all combat - all horror show. The only non-infantry personnel in their teams were medics. They ate MREs and food mailed to them from home.

Now L.A. and Philly are booting the ocupoopers out as well. Heard on the news that there are 3 resisters in a treehouse in the park in LA they are ocupooping in..........a well placed M79 or todays equivilent would quickly remove them from their fortress. Yes even the liberals can say enough is enough.
