A message from Rhett Evans
on new health insurance access
benefit for members

At GCSAA, we value member feedback as a key way to shape our programs and services to make sure we are providing you with what you want and need. Having access to affordable health care is a concern for many of you, and it has been a regular response when we pose the question of what else GCSAA can do for you.

We have listened, and I am very pleased to announce that we have partnered with Association Health Programs (AHP), an insurance broker, to offer health insurance access as a membership benefit. The program will be available to you on April 1.

All membership classifications are eligible to participate, other than the recently introduced Friend of the Golf Course Superintendent, and your immediate family members can be covered too. The program has options for members in 38 states. Due to state legal restrictions, the program is not available in 12 states: Alaska, California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont and Washington. However, we will continue to investigate potential ways to help members in those states.

While product availability and rates will vary by state and individual circumstances, companies that AHP partners with to provide coverage in Preferred Provider Plans (PPO) include Blue Cross and Blue Shield, United Healthcare, Aetna, Cigna and more. You will have access to multiple plan options with choices of deductibles, out-of-pocket costs, etc. AHP has a long history of working with associations, and they will help you determine which plan design best fits you and your family.

As a member, you will be responsible for 100% of the premiums and will make payments directly to the insurance providers. GCSAA will never have access to any of your protected healthcare information.

We have compiled a list of program FAQs and will be providing you with additional information before the launch April 1, but please contact Nate Scott, director of human resources, with any questions you may have.

While we make it our mission to serve you and advance your profession, we hope that this newest benefit opportunity can provide you with some peace of mind off the course as well.

Best regards,
Rhett
