First Green Task Group provides feedback for STEM education program

2021 FG task group photoThe 2021 First Green Task Group met on June 8 at GCSAA headquarters, the first in-person task group meeting since the pandemic began. The task group was led by Paul L. Carter, CGCS, chairman, and Douglas D. Dykstra, CGCS, vice chairman. Task Group members received an update on the status of First Green field trips. While field trips were at a virtual standstill in 2020 and the first quarter of 2021, participation has taken off in April and May with more than 550 students in five states attending the hands-on, STEM field trips on golf courses.

The task group members reviewed First Green’s five-year plan and provided their insight and ideas on expansion and growth tactics. These tactics included recruiting First Green liaisons, outreach and marketing efforts to GCSAA members, teachers, school districts and youth groups.

GCSAA thanks those serving on the First Green Task Group.
