Well, spring is here...? At least officially on the calendar. In many parts of the region — and the country — winter continue to hold a tight grip. But, with the days getting longer, the promise of an excellent golf season is right around the corner.
The chapter outreach/field staff team is working with chapters across the country on the annual
Rounds 4 Research program. In case you're unaware, Rounds 4 Research — R4R for short — is a program working with golf facilities across the country provide donated rounds in which the public can bid.
Funds generated through the program aid chapters to fund turfgrass research, advocacy and education efforts, locally, nationally, and internationally. In 2017 alone, R4R raised more than $200,000!
Thus far over 900 rounds are up for bid. Visit
The EIFG for more information. Whether you are at a golf course that can donate a round, or you are a golfer looking for a place the play, R4R provides a great opportunity to play golf and an exceptional venue, receive a great value, and support an exceptional cause!
In 2018, the auction begins April 30 and ends May 6. Donations of rounds are taken during the auction process and throughout the year.
This year, our goal is to increase the number our rounds available by 10 percent from 2017 figures. Why is this important? We want to ensure everyone has a chance, regardless of location, to take advantage of this exceptional opportunity.
Our chapter outreach team is busy working with chapters and facilities to promote this effort and to get people involved. We need your input and support!
Are you planning to make a golf trip this year? Are you looking to travel across the country, or play and stay locally? Rounds 4 Research should be your
first stop before booking your tee times. Contact any of us at 800-472-7878 if you have questions and on April 30, let the bidding begin!
