Recently, the Golf Industry Show in San Diego concluded. The trade show floor was buzzing and positive comments about the show continue.
This positive momentum continues. But the conclusion of GIS is not the end. Not by any stretch. In many ways it is the beginning. Exciting events upcoming in the Central Plains region illustrate the point.
I will be in Minnesota twice in the next week. Legislative Day and the chapter retreat in Central Minnesota continue to be important activities for the chapter.
During the retreat, we'll take a look at the current strategic plan, update goals and action items and work as a team to move the chapter forward. In addition, some of the region's best lasagna and hot dishes will be made! It's a great opportunity to come together for the good of members.
I'll have to opportunity to visit members in North Dakota as they hold the North Central Region Turfgrass Conference in Fargo. The state of North Dakota has received a BMP grant and they are putting in the time to develop their BMPs.
The South Dakota GCSA will host its conference in Sioux Falls. I look forward to speaking with the group and reuniting with individuals from the state. Their conference is loaded with top-notch education. The state is also nearing the completion of their BMPs.
In Nebraska, the chapter hosts its Spring Education session at Landscapes Unlimited. This will be a keystone event for the chapter as members get ready to ramp up for the 2019 golf season.
The Iowa and Heart of America GCSA chapters will meet at HQ for Board Orientation and strategic planning sessions. With both chapters in close proximity to Lawrence, it will allow members to visit headquarters and chart the positive future for each chapter.
In addition, the annual Chapter Leader/Executive Symposium will be held in Lawrence in mid-March. We are working on the agenda and have an exceptional program lined up for attendees.
So, yes, GIS has concluded. But there is a lot going on. Spring will be here soon! I look forward to seeing you down the road.
