Hi-Lo Desert GCSA, San Diego GCSA and GCSA of Southern California combine efforts and resources to host two days of education and golf
The Southern California Tri-Chapter Meeting was held May 13-14 at the Temecula Creek Inn in Temecula, Calif. The event was co-hosted by the Hi-Lo Desert GCSA, San Diego GCSA and GCSA of Southern California. 125 members from the three Southern California chapters attended the two-day education and golf event.
Education was provided by Matteo Serena, Ph.D., USGA Senior Manager of Irrigation Research and Services; Bryan Unruh, Ph.D., Associate Center Director & Professor of Turfgrass Science, University of Florida; Jim Baird, Turfgrass Specialist, Ph.D., University of California Riverside; Craig Kessler, Executive Director, California Alliance for Golf; Fred Yelverton, Ph.D., Professor and Extension Specialist, North Carolina State University; Mike Richardson, Ph.D., University of Arkansas; Jim Kerns, Ph.D, Professor and Extension Specialist of Turfgrass Pathology, North Carolina State University and Zac Reicher, Ph.D., Green Solutions Team Specialist, Envu.
Yelverton, Richardson, Kerns, and Reicher also hosted a question-and-answer session for participants on cool- and warm-season grasses, as well as current trends in pesticide management.
The last session of the day featured representatives from Rain Bird and Toro who discussed troubleshooting of irrigation systems.

The second day of the event featured a golf tournament at the 27-hole Temecula Creek Inn. Superintendent Brett Wininger had the course in great shape and players were treated to a beautiful day of golf.
