The MiGCSA and the OGSA continued their long-term and strong relationship with the running of the 43
rd edition of the Can-Am Challenge. With a spring that has featured more rain events than superintendents care to count, the members from both associations were treated to gorgeous playing conditions thanks to Mother Nature and, more importantly, host superintendent Chris Andrejicka, a 28-year member of GCSAA.
The Canadian team won the cup this year and the camaraderie and relationship between the two chapters is as strong as ever. OGSA President Jason Boyce, a 14-year GCSAA member delivered a great presentation following the round where he thanked the sponsors and hosts, and made a special point to recognize MiGCSA executive director Adam Ikamas, CGCS, and MiGCSA board members who were in attendance; including Canadian native Ryan Moore, a 17-year member of the association and immediate past president and 21-year GCSAA member Dan Dingman.
Members from both sides recognize some of the challenges which stem from international travel. This only adds to the appreciation of members who attend and support this important event year after year. I can't say enough about how perfect the course was, despite the numerous rain events which have plagued much of the country this spring. I would also like to say thank you the Essex Country Club staff who always put on a first-class event and make everyone feel at home. I'm looking forward to the U.S hosting the event next year!
