Three quarters into his term, GCSAA’s 85th president Mark Jordan, CGCS, is not slowing down. In fact, it's quite the opposite. While he may not have been able to attend all the events he normally would have during his presidential year due to continuing COVID restrictions, that has not stopped him from supporting and representing GCSAA members where he can.
We all know 2020 put a halt to, well, almost everything. Even early 2021 breathed some uncertainty as to when large gatherings and events would reenter our lives. As the year continued and progress was made, life began to have that 2019 feeling. 2021 began to ramp up with small in-person meetings, then rush hour started to rear its ugly head, and before we knew it, professional sporting events were allowing fans on site, concerts were taking place, and GCSAA chapters were announcing a full slate of events.
As travel questions were slowly answered, Mark’s presidential year began to take on a whole new life.
In the last few months, Mark has attended numerous chapter events and professional tournaments around the Great Lakes and Mid-Atlantic regions. This has given Mark the opportunity to meet members and thank them for their support of the industry and association. He is also able to represent GCSAA on behalf of the nearly 19,000 members worldwide during meetings with allied associations, industry personnel, as well as with local and national policymakers.
It’s not all travel during his presidential term. On the home front, there was the full-scale renovation at Westfield Country Club’s North and South courses which took place from 2017 to 2020, as well as walking his middle daughter down the aisle just a few short weeks ago.
I have been fortunate to spend time with Mark over this past year and can see his passion for serving fellow members firsthand. There is still plenty to accomplish over the next few months and I know Mark will continue to serve his fellow members with the passion he has shown throughout his entire career. I look forward to seeing the final quarter of his presidential term as he leaves his ‘mark’ as GCSAA’s 85th president.
